Linear stylings from winemaker Nick Spencer. It’s a different interpretation of Tumbarumba Chardonnay and one that I personally have a lot of time for.
Tight and flinty yet it includes a textural mise-en-scène of sensitive cedary oak, lees and some malolactic fermentation which fleshes out the mid-palate. White florals and a whisper of smoke on the nose. Firm grapefruit focus and precision with just enough stonefruit and green melon generosity. Detailed and long. I found it rather cerebral; a wine to ponder over the course of an evening as it slowly opens up in the glass. 92+
