As with the Villages Chardonnay, a number of vineyards throughout the Yarra are utilised in the final assemblage of this Pinot Noir. I don’t have a great deal of detail as to vinification.
Sweet black raspberry peaks rise amidst a sappy skyline with plums, sour cherries and crushed black spice forming the core of the wine. Intricately threaded tannin flexes under the fruit and there are hints of cured meats. It has a sense of generosity but retains admirable interest and complexity at its price point. De Bortoli delivers the goods yet again. 92
