There’s some promise with this Montepulciano from Mount Lofty. The alcohol reading is high but there are no overt signs of heat.
It’s juicy upfront then dry and tannic down back. Cherries, blackberries, dusty herbs, and spice. The malty chocolate oak is a little loud in the mix but some may like that. Lithe in body and amply structured. Throws up a rustic, meaty character on day two but it doesn’t dominate the wine in its youth. 90
