A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. 82% and 18% respectively.
A quite bizarre mix of brown grass, leaf, earth, citrus and sour red fruits – the latter very much in the background. Has some texture care of solids and old oak. It’s almost abrasively savoury and disarmingly vinous. Herbs on the finish. I kept wondering “where’s the fruit?”. Difficult wine to rate. Stoic. No technical flaws as such and it may appeal to some but I didn’t find much joy myself. 86
