All of these 2012 Local Vineyard Series Pinots are from the Upper Yarra Valley with Willowlake situated in Gladysdale. Each one employed whole berry fermentation in open vessels followed by 10 months maturation in French oak.
Ripe strawberries, rose petals, sweet ruby grapefruit, maraschino cherries, forest leaf, mint and spice (pepper and star anise). A hint of rhubarb. Sustained intensity without overt weight. Has a silky softness but the silhouette is clear on account of the animated, deep acidity and exceptionally supple tannin. A very, very pretty wine with serious quality, complexity and length. 94+
