“2012 was a very good all-round vintage, pretty much all round the country really. It was very easy to get it right. Classification was the difficult part. With the 864s we’re looking for a little more length, a little more complexity…things like that. Like Spinal Tap. Turn it up to eleven.”
I think David Bicknell’s got the classification pretty much spot on. This is indeed a step up from the excellent 2012 Local Vineyard Chardonnays. It’s racy, incisive, long and intense yet it offers a good deal of flavour even as a young wine. White peach fuzz, mandarin, florals, camp fire clothes and sweet basil. You can get lost in the aromas, you can get lost in the flavours, you can get lost in the clear articulation and detail that it has to offer. A wine of all-pervasive quality. 96+

Mate,
I think you might find that the alcohol is 13.6%. Pretty sure that’s what it says on the label, so it must be right!
Thanks for the great review.
Thanks DB. Hand written note, my mistake.
