2011 Picardy Pemberton Chardonnay

picardy chardVery pleased to be able to cover Picardy on WWEI. A big thanks to those that made it happen. You know who you are. While the 2011 Chardonnay won’t fall over in the next three to five years it’s pretty much ready to go now.

Ripe peach, nectarine and pear aromatics paired with buttered toast and yoghurt. White flowers in the background. The palate is malleable with attractive mealy characters but there’s clear citrus definition and ample detail. A hint of honey before a long woodspice and almond finish. Balance and a surprising amount of precision (if you haven’t tasted a Picardy Chardonnay before). These guys do this style about as well as anyone. 93
