Full throttle, no holds barred Viognier. You have to admire it even if you can’t drink much of it. A glass or two with pork belly or a creamy curry would work a treat though.
It’s luscious even on the nose. Tinned peaches, pineapple, a large dose of vanilla, dried apricots, honeycomb and lemon curd. Full-bodied and lavish but their is some earthy cumin spice, a funky undertow of savouriness and a sliver of ginger which enhances and provides a counterpoint to a slightly syrupy sweet entry. It finishes spicy and long with a few phenolic bumps that I can’t call finessed but admire all the same. Packs in the flavour, has some oiliness but ultimately doesn’t lose all form. Good carry through the backend too. 90
