Grapes for this Shiraz were sourced from the Patterson Lakes vineyard in Southern Victoria. Wild yeast with maturation in used French barriques. If I were winemaker Rollo Crittenden I’d be deadset furious about the shitty Dan Murphy’s branded and owned Crittenden & Co wines confusing matters but Rollo seems to be a more balanced person than me.
This is slurpable, fruit focused cool climate Shiraz. It’s no show pony but it is a good drink at a good price. It has an ease of being about it, making it even more comfortable to consume. Predominantly red fruited with cherry/berry flavour, pepper and aniseed. It’s a juicy, drink-young style that’s pretty smart if not overly complex. 89
