We’re in richer, sunshine territory with this 2012. It’s chock full of the season’s primary fruit. You’re after flavour? Look no further. A bit buttery, a bit nutty and maybe even a little syrupy. It has enough focus nonetheless.
Melons and figs, sweet nougat oak, woodspice and a hint of caramel. If I take my proxy-taster hat off then I can safely say I don’t love it. It’s a touch obvious and I long for more mystery and intrigue. But if I whack that hat back on I’d venture to guess that many people will swoon over this. As far as aesthetics can relate to quality, it ain’t a bad wine either. It’s just more plentiful and less interesting than the wines I gravitate to, especially when it comes to Yarra Valley Chardonnay. The score is mine and mine alone. I’m happy to own it. You can mark it however you like. 90

Thanks for this review Jeremy. I love to hear how other people interpret the same wines we’ve tasted.
I’m exactly the same Emmi. If I couldn’t discuss the wines I taste and/or drink with others – online, around the dinner table, in a park – then I’d lose a significant portion of the enjoyment that wine as a whole gives me.
