Back to the Mandoletos and they’ve backed up their whites with a Nero D’Avola that represents cracking value. Given the current cultural capital of Italian wine and Australia’s own exploration of the Sicilian variety you’d expect this to fly off the shelves. And so it should regardless of fashion.
Juicy and jubey berry-cherry fruits tumble from the glass with dried herbs, aniseed and pan juices elaborating on the primary fruited profile without really getting in the way or making the drinker think too hard.
