It’s fairly well-known that Catarratto is the most widely grown grape in Sicily. Perhaps fewer realise that it is the second most commonly planted variety in all of Italy. This extremely nifty effort is imported by Fourth Wave Wine.
The herbaceous and tropically fruited characters clearly evident make me wonder if it could catch on in a similar manner to Sauvignon Blanc. It’s far superior to any Savvy I’ve tried at the same price point. Melon and stonefruit are joined by typically Italianate pear and almonds. A ginger and brine finish is very snazzy indeed. I could drink a whole lot of this with a wide variety of foods. It has character and interest but it isn’t challenging or hard work. Highly recommended. 89
