Something kept me coming back to this wine over three days yet it never really produced any enjoyment. I admire the savoury and serious intent that I see behind it but the tough vintage has probably won out it the end.
Amidst the herbs and steminess (not sure if there’s any whole bunch work but that’s how it tastes) are briary red and dark purple fruits. A few Kalamata olives too. Unfortunately the acid has a tomato-like quality to it and the tannin is tough and on the bitter/green side. It’s by no means a complete failure and there are signs that a kinder year could produce something really worthwhile but I can’t see too many people handing over fifty bucks for this. 87
