Grapes for this come from the Greenock subregion in the west of the Barossa Valley. Sees a mix of French and American oak hogsheads for 20 months with 25% of them being new.
Opens up very expressively with red and blue fruited high tones before darker berried flavours assert themselves. Milk chocolate, licorice, pepper and assorted spice. Some meaty and earthy aspects. Just over medium-bodied and quite invigorating for a Barossa Shiraz that exhibits clear but balanced oak. Bright acidity with tannins providing good traction on the finish. A touch of stony-ness and bitterness at the end. Well crafted though. Tempted to go a point higher. 88
