2012 Jamsheed Harem Series La Syrah

jamsheed la syrahThis is about as good as the La Syrah has ever looked. It’s a multi-regional blend this year with 70% coming from an old vineyard in the Pyrenees and 30% being sourced from three different Yarra Valley vineyards. 80% whole bunch and although you can see the impact of the stems I don’t reckon you’d ever suspect the percentage was that high from tasting the wine.

Herbs and twiggy characters sit comfortably beside strong black cherry notes, brambly fruits, cinnamon and pepper. Suggestions of cured meats, eucalypt and florals. Animated yet integrated acidity and supple, sensual tannin. A friendly wine and an outright bargain. 92
