If you tend to find Barossa and McLaren Vale Grenache a bit on the sweet side then the better releases from 2011 might be right up your alley. I find most good Grenache takes on a more earthen and savoury character with age anyway.
Very peppery with a good depth of red fruits and a slightly grubby edge. Wet clay and almost tomato-ish acidity. It cetainly doesn’t come across as entirely clean but I don’t think that takes all the pleasure away. The tannin is sandy and on the firm side but still ripe. I’d be happy enough to share a bottle with food. 88
