The 45 year-old Nitschke Road Shiraz block lies in Bethany towards the east of the Barossa. The fruit saw 25% new French oak.
Clovey chocolate oak, dark plum and blackberry, licorice and espresso. A little earthiness. There’s nothing to criticise. It has enough fruit freshness, decent balance and good grainy tannin and length. Warmth without heat. Having said that I couldn’t find anything to get excited about either. It’s full-bodied, sweet Barossa Shiraz. No more, no less. 89 Good
