Hungerford Hill seem to be finding some real form of late. I don’t get to taste a lot of Shiraz from the Tumbarumba region but this offers a good deal of quality. Apologies for the appalling bottle image. Black on black was the only one I could find…
Cool climate to the core. The oak is a little showy but not sweet or overly dominant. There’s plenty of juicy cherry and mulberry fruit, a hint of gamey-ness and a fair rattle of pepper. Pert, somewhat adjunct acidity and sandy, slightly gritty tannin. Not the most finessed structural elements (and this is where it has lost points) but they get the job done. 91 Good – Very Good
