Thank goodness we are beginning to see many producers make Australian expressions of white Rhône varieties that are not just ‘dry white wines’. These varieties have character – play to it.
Honeycomb, yoghurt, fresh peach and apricot, herbal tea, flint, spiced orange rind and a hint of smoke. Waxy in the mouth with a line of citrus. Has plenty of flavour but doesn’t limit itself to primary fruit. Deft incorporation of phenolics to provide added pleasure (for him and for her). Impressive endurance on a finish with a ginger beer twist. Will gain even more complexity with bottle age. Would love to see it in five or so years. 94 Excellent
