2012 Chapel Hill Chardonnay

The second vintage of the wine that replaced the Chapel Hill Unwooded Chardonnay. I think the use of a little oak is wise. It balances some of the more overtly tropical flavours the region can produce. The label on the bottle has been altered and I don’t have a current image. I’ll get one up when it becomes available.

White stonefruits, melon, honeysuckle and fig with some welcome lemon citrus cutting through the richer characters. Just a touch of toast and spice. It’s a little diffuse and creamy but there’s enough acidity to provide adequate form. A fruity and straightforward example of the variety and appropriately priced at that. 87 Average
