1987 Shottesbrooke 1337 Muscat

1337muscatA 26-year-old vintage Muscat from bygone days. You can’t help but get a little sentimental. Served it to friends post tasting with a cheese platter. They adored it. And indeed, there’s much to like.

Heaps of spiced citrus rind is the perfect match to the treacle, caramel, brandy soaked raisins, rancio and walnuts. Layered and unctuous. I have to take points off for the amount of spirity alcohol still showing and the prominent milkshake oak which is yet to fully sink into the wine…but as far as hedonistic pleasure and interest goes, it’s impressive. Maybe it just needs another 26 years? 90+ Good
