The winemaker’s German heritage explains the name. The Doktor is made entirely from the MV6 Pinot clone and incorporates 100% whole bunches and some new oak.
The nose is immediately more dense than the Bloody Hill Pinot of the same year. Distinct notes of blueberry and lavender join more typical red fruits. Rhubarb, beetroot and meaty characters add interest and complexity. Sweeter spice here; cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise. The acidity is super-fine and the mouthfeel is delectable. Slinky gear with stemmy tannin. Slurpingly good now but its best years are ahead of it. 96 Exceptional
