A collaboration between Dudley Brown of Inkwell Wines and Paul Henry, now of ‘winehero’ and ex-head of Wine Australia. I know Dudley well and came to take increasing interest in Paul on account of the fact that he took my often loud mouthed and blunt criticism of Wine Australia and a few of his own ideas as constructive. At the time that wasn’t necessarily the norm.
A blend of Grenache, Mataro and Tempranillo with a multilevel play on words in the title ( I think you can all guess the Greenwich Mean Time pun). Each component is discernible yet the whole adds up to far more than the sum of the parts. Blackberry with red cherry high tones. Meat, sensible sulphides, cola, complexing bracken and smoke. Peppery spice. The cool season has imparted refreshing acidity yet it’s rather slinky in the mouth and very easy to slam down. Don’t let that make you think it lacks complexity though. Some savoury saline minerality. Loved it. 93 Very Good – Excellent

I’d like to think that sensible sulphides are those that took their studies seriously, as opposed to the rest of ‘em that fooled around, a little larrikin streak.
Strange what the mind conjures.
As always, you’ve nailed it
