Looks like Château Tanunda have fared well with their reds in 2011. No one could accuse this Cabernet Sauvignon of being under-ripe. It’s not full-bodied but there’s plenty of dark ripe fruit flavour, well pitched French vanilla oak and savoury, long strand tannin.
Blackberries and cassis. Roasted root vegetables and brown leaf. Glimmers of red fruit and a hint of cedar. I wonder if the longer ripening period hasn’t produced a superior wine here. Hard to say, not having tasted previous vintages but this has composure and a degree of elegance I don’t often associate with Barossa Cabernet. I think it will age well over the medium term as well. Much to admire. 91 Good

Thanks Jeremy, a lot of hard work in the vineyards (hedging canopies to open them up to sun and wind, repeated passes with the harvester with beaters and blowers going before picking etc.) and in the winery helped us in a rather challenging year! We’re pretty much done and dusted with our 2011 reds and are starting to look at the 2012s.
I think the key with this wine is the large proportion of Eden Valley Cab in the blend which seemed better equipped to deal with the cooler and wetter conditions of 2011. It also reinforces our belief that if you want composure and elegance in Barossa Cab you need to head to the high country!
Ah, Eden Valley fruit. Now it makes sense
Is this the current vinomofo deal?
Not from us!
I’m not sure, sorry Chris. I don’t purchase wine through Vinomofo.
