One of my favourite New Zealand Pinots year in, year out and the 2010 does not disappoint. Matured in French barriques for 18 months but the high-grade wood still doesn’t outshine the fruit.
A depth of morello cherries on the nose with anise, cinnamon, cured meats and briary red fruits weaving their way through the bouquet and palate. Extravagant and seductive in the mouth with exceptional length and intensity. Minerally earthen undertones…complexity galore. Has the architecture to carry it off too. Top drinking now with at least seven or so years of improvement up its sleeves. 94 Excellent
