2012 Knappstein Hand Picked Riesling

knappsteinhand-225x300Knappstein have been a little all over the shop during the past few years in my opinion. This Riesling may just be a diamond in the rough. It does need more time in the bottle.

Musk and talc, lemon and bitters. Attractive aromas and flavour, some juiciness and very good reach. That touch of quinine provides plenty of personality, especially through the back-palate. The acidity isn’t fine resulting in a wine that, for the moment, lacks true finesse. It may surprise in the years to come. 92+ Very Good

Quite right. The best of this for some time – perhaps ever, at least in my drinking history. It’s not brilliant, but it’s about 92-ish for sure.

  2. Cheers Michael. I reckon it’s the best Knappstein Riesling I’ve tasted. Previous few releases have been disappointing. Hopefully this is the start of a new trend.
