For those who are unaware, there’s a Wrattonbully version of this to go with the Barossan expression. This is still current release - we’ve moved onto the 2012 Wrattonbully – so a few brief words are in order.
Firstly, it’s not a bad result from a difficult vintage. Friendly if slightly confected cherry/berry fruit with lilacs, mulch and a peppery nose and palate. Nice interplay of sweet and savoury dimensions. Plenty of acidity and ripe, chalky tannin that builds in the mouth. Ultimately though, it is a bit thin and insubstantial. A nice, medium bodied bistro wine. 88 Good
