I don’t reckon Wirra Wirra have ever topped their 2010 12th Man Chardonnay. It was a beauty. This one could do with at least another year in the bottle - or consider decanting it. The oak is extremely prominent but if you give it time or a couple of days it all comes into balance and is pretty darn enjoyable. I have no issue with oaky Chardonnay, so long as it’s good oak and that it lets the fruit speak…at least eventually.
Cedar and raw cashew from the wood, spicy grapefruit and flickers of green pear and white peach. Hints of cinnamon, clove and apple on the finish. It’s almost buttery in the mouth but in a pleasant and harmonious manner. Will please many and I didn’t mind a glass or two once it had come together. 91 Good – Very Good
