There’s a layer of bracken and swamp water that sits over the other aromas in this Tempranillo. I find it quite unappealing and very distracting.
Underneath that are some darker forest fruits, crushed brown spice, cola and pepper. It’s a savoury, spicy wine. The acidity is spiky and the finish has a bitter herbal tang. 86 Average

Sadly, another 2011 wine bites the dust, we are certainly eventually going to see a lot of heavily discounted 11 reds around. A hiccup though, their 2009 and 2010 Temps are both very enjoyable wines.
Having said that, I am hanging out for the release of the 2010 Olivers Taranga Sagrantino … was earlier estimated to be late December last year … may possibly be the best Saggy produced in Aus to date, we’ll see!
Yes, it deserves to be said the Oliver’s Taranga have done well with Tempranillo in the past. And I’m really looking forward to the new vintage of Sagrantino as well. Love their take on that grape.
