I’ve been guilty of not paying as much attention to the Wickhams Road wines as I should. I’d always thought that the Hoddles Creek label would do me just fine. These 2012 releases have made me reassess my position. They offer not only fantastic quality at a great price point but also fascinating individual identities.
The Yarra Valley version is all clean lines and pristine fruit with tasty, toasty oak playing a supporting role. White peach and nectarine with some honeysuckle and almonds on the nose and palate. Appropriate levels of spice. Textbook Yarra Chardonnay that benefits from a little air as a young wine. Fine yet flavoursome. 92 Very Good
