Ross Estate is a family owned winery based just outside of Lyndoch in the Barossa. This Grenache is sourced from vines planted in 1912. Old indeed.
It’s a slick and polished example, perhaps at the expense of some personality. Jubey raspberries to the fore with faint floral notes, smoked almonds and petrichor. Some regional licorice provides the bass line. The oak is tastefully applied, leaving the ribbon-like flow unhindered. It’s warming but also light-ish and somehow lacking in substance or presence. 88 Good
