The price wasn’t attached to the bottle and I can’t see the current vintage on the De Bortoli website so I’ve listed a price a from a previous release.
In many ways it’s a traditional medium bodied Hunter Shiraz with red and black fruit, earth, stressed leather, violets and pepper. As much anchored by bucolic tannin as adjunct acidity. My biggest issue with it? It opened up with some vanilla cola which then morphed into strong bitter Chinotto notes, slowly overtaking the wine and leaving the flavour profile unbalanced. I came back to it and on day two and wasn’t quite as dissatisfied but it’s an awkward wine. 87 Average
