Clare Valley Cabernet has such an identifiable and delicious flavour profile when the vintage gods smile and the wine is well made. Thank the lord for 2010. Hopefully it will lure people back to a synergy between grape and region that deserves more attention.
This is a generous expression but varietal savouriness and sinuous tannins keep things heading in the right direction. Cassis and capsicum flecked with blueberries. Chocolate mint slice, pencil shavings and cedar oak. There’s lavender and violets on the nose and pepper on the finish. The acidity is fine and enlivens proceedings. May even improve over the next ten years. 92 Very Good
