Difficult to split the 2007 Tasmania Vintage Cuvée and the 2008 Premium Vintage Rosé sparklings in terms of quality, although they are of course very different wines. The former is more savoury and spends a year longer on lees – four years all up. It tastes Chardonnay dominant and is drinking very well at the moment. Probably better than it was twelve months ago.
It’s toasty with Vegemite on Sao autolysis derived notes. Fresh lemon and zest still drive the wine, with chalky acidity providing a terrific spine. Almonds, white flowers and a mere hint of strawberry contribute to the aromas and flavours. Fine mousse and bead; it feels good in the mouth, with just a whisper of softness and caramel in the mix. 93 Very Good
