Michael Hall is a winemaker to watch. Since his first release of a couple of Syrahs and a Chardonnay from the 2007 vintage he’s expanded his portfolio and moved from strength to strength. This is Sauvignon Blanc for grown ups and it’s the best Australian expression of the variety I’ve encountered this year.
Opens up with a smoky nose along with cheese and fruit platter aromatics. Bright gooseberry with citric cut and thrust. The balance between fruit, oak and lees is impeccable. Shades of savouriness throughout the palate. Creamy mouthfeel with a handshake grip on the back-palate and length to burn. Finishes on a note of gun flint. Damn impressive. 94 Excellent
