As was the case with the Rosé this won its class at the 2012 Royal Melbourne Wine Show. Medhurst have certainly prospered at that event. It’s difficult to overlook its piercing length; something the variety isn’t known for…but there’s a hell a lot of acidity at play too, so caveat emptor.
Texture and complexity are both focal points with extended time on lees and a fair amount of barrel work. New French bottes and puncheons were used and despite the large format of the wood it takes some air before the hardness imparted integrates into the wine. The final result is still brisk and vibrant. Purity of fruit is maintained with citrus balancing tropical notes and a grassy back-palate. 90 Good
