Top of its class at the 2012 Royal Melbourne Wine Show. It’s a slightly weightier expression than most Yarra Valley Rosé; presumably that’s related to the unusual choice of Cabernet Sauvignon as the dominant grape with 43% Shiraz filling out the blend.
A very deliberate interpretation. It’s rounded and smooth in the mouth and rolls along pretty well on its way to a dry conclusion. Aromatically it’s quirky. Strawberries, blackberry leaf and jubes along with a little watermelon. A twist of black pepper sees it out. It’s not my preferred style but if you’re after a well made, fuller Rosé you could safely add a point or maybe even two. 89 Good
