I’ve enjoyed every bottle of Hoddles Creek Pinot Blanc that I’ve tasted, going back to 2010. Each release has been a variation on a theme with a distinct personality imparted by the vintage conditions and, no doubt, Franco D’Anna’s growing experience with the variety. I’m letting my 2011s sit in the cellar for a while longer and while I’ll be putting a few of these away, there’s no harm in cracking a bottle now.
It’s aromatically open and expressive; florals, honeyed ginger, baking spice, nashi pear and melons. Beautifully weighted and intricate yet intriguingly textured with gentle wax-like traits and some traction on a mouth-watering tart green apple finish. Fascinating drinking that hits all the spots. Probably has a few tricks up its sleeve for the years to come too. 94+ Excellent
