Pinot Gris and Friends? There aren’t many of them in wine media circles Seriously though, I like aromatic white blends and the addition of a splash of Gewürztraminer along with a drop of Riesling goes a long way towards making this a much more interesting drink. You can pick each component quite easily but they work together well.
It’s fairly restrained on the nose – almost elusive but in a way that captivates you and draws you in. Rose petals, pear, spice and piquant lime with tropical notes building through the line towards a nutty conclusion. Cool vintage acidity but not too firm. Amicable texture without anything oily or greasy popping up; you can thank laudable use of large format oak and lees for that. Intelligent winemaking and the result is a casual and enjoyable drink with more than a touch of personality. 89 Good
