When Curly Flat Chardonnay is on song, it’s about as good as any other Chardonnay in Australia. The 2002 and 2004 were such wines and they’ve hit that same mark again with the 2010.
Smoky oak and plenty of it but it’s beautifully integrated. Peaches on toast and grapefruit with savoury almond and mild, cheesy lees characters. Good palate weight, a hint of honeyed richness and fantastic mineral and woodspice extension. 100% malolactic fermentation adds to the creamy texture but the cool climate acidity ensures form is maintained at all times. Cracking wine. 96 Exceptional
