Lots of good Shiraz made from the 2011 vintage in the Hunter Valley. This isn’t one of them.
French vanilla and clove oak. Plenty of it. Blankets the fruit. Take a look under the hood and you’ll find cherry and black fruits, game, sweaty leather and earth. I suspect the fact that it’s over-oaked and unbalanced exacerbates the lack of length and the skinniness on the palate. Wood splinter tannins need time to settle down…trouble is the wine sort of fell to pieces on the second day of tasting. 84 Average
