Love just about everything about Fraser Gallop except the new wine naming system. Why not just stick to Estate and Parterre and ditch the word ‘Winery’? There, I’ve got that off my chest.
One for those not keen on the leaner style of Chardonnay that’s in fashion (at least amongst winemakers and wine media). Obvious yet well pitched creamy cashew oak, no malo influence that I can detect so the spine of acidity isn’t muffled. Grapefruit, Weet-Bix, pears – some of them lightly poached – and peach with a welcome mealiness. Ample woodspice; cinnamon and ginger with a bit of honeycomb. Powerful from go to whoa. If you like to actually taste fruit in your Chardonnay then you’ll enjoy this. Priced smartly to boot. 92 Very Good
