2011 Cirillo The Vincent Grenache

The Vincent Grenache comes from the Steingarten vineyard near the border of the Eden and Barossa Valleys. It’s a more feminine and perfumed expression than the 1850 Old Vine wine, more so in 2011. It’s only light to medium bodied and doesn’t quite have the depth of previous vintages. Still, it remains a bargain. Make sure you decant it if you’re going to drink it now. It benefits tremendously from a bit of exposure.

Sweet cherry, florals, red fruits and spice on the nose. There are some herbs on the palate and the bright acidity segues into crunchy, stalky tannin…which softens with time. Hints of earth, meat and leather appear over time. A smart effort from a challenging vintage. 90 Good
