The House Block sits about fifty metres away from the Road Block but there’s a world of difference between these two wines. Structurally they feel as if they were from alternate dimensions. The detailed, nutty, lattice-work tannins of the House Block are simply stunning. The wine is also darker, deeper, longer and more formidable.
Joining black and purple berries are suggestions of lavender, char-grilled meats and a sanguine note which demands that the wine be taken seriously. Saline minerality contributes to a savoury palate profile and the flavours are guided through the mouth with great assurance and confidence. This is all class and deserves a place in the cellar of anyone who loves Vale Shiraz. 95 Excellent – Exceptional
