Pizzini have been at this dry, textural rosé caper for ages. Leaders of the pack in Australian terms. And Sangiovese is such a great grape to use for the style. It has personality and savouriness sewn up.
There’s some tug and pull in the mouth here and it works magnificently well with subtle earthiness, red berried fruits, musk, floral notes and genial spice. It’s not shy flavour-wise either. Sure there’s something to chew on but there’s also something to taste. Sometimes I think Australia doesn’t pay enough attention to that and it’s often to the detriment of the wine. No such problems here. Oh, and the price is exceedingly smart too. 90 Good
