“And one to fuck over when things would decide
That it was once again time to go for a ride
We felt we must seize the weather, and never the whim
To be led by the other and not the whithin” – Palace, “Disorder”
At first I was afraid (I was petrified…) but slowly on day two this number began to reveal some forest berry fruits. Up until then it was all roses, violets, cactus, pepper and vegetation. I generally like the use of whole bunches in Yarra Valley Syrah but I couldn’t help but feel they over-shadowed things a little too much in this vintage release.
Crackling acidity, texture, red fruits and savouriness – this is as far away from a fruity wine as you’ll see (at least whilst maintaining a sense of balance). Plenty of stalky tannin and some fresh herbs. It never quite won me over. Average – Good

Oh well, can’t win ‘em all. The Chardonnay sounds dirty – in a good way. Keep ‘em rolling JP
Nope, not all the time Still an interesting wine and I’ll be keen to see how others read it. That Madame Chard is a belter. Dirty/funky/characterful…one of those, take your pick! It all adds up to an interesting and enjoyable experience.
