2008 Brown Brothers Patricia Shiraz

We’ve got a crowd pleaser here. Smooth as the proverbial baby’s bottom. That melting chocolate texture is a winner. Creamy toasted coffee oak contributes further to that dimension. I’d like to see a little more structure but this will make plenty of friends as is.

Liqueurous on the nose and palate but not to the point of sickliness. Boysenberries and other black fruits dominate with an undertone of red earth providing welcome depth. There’s tannin and acid here but the flavours wash over them, leading to a slight lack of shape. In its style, though, it’s very well executed and deserves to make the many friends that it will. Good – Very Good
