2009 Chapel Hill Shiraz

Despite the warm 2009 vintage, Chapel Hill pulled off two excellent Shiraz releases reviewed under The Chosen moniker. This standard Shiraz is by no means poor and its warm heartedness will have its fans but it’s really an average release at best.

Its curranty with prunes, plum and blueberry. Coffee and clove spiced oak seem turned up in the mix and the acid feels jangly. The biggest issue though may be the bitterness on the back-palate. I’d be putting my money on the next vintage being far more impressive. You can up the rating slightly if you like them big and blokey. Average
