2010 Some Young Punks Naked on Roller Skates Shiraz Mataro

Now this is more like it. No, I’m not talking about the label – still does nothing for me. But the wine is impressive. Friendly, affable, gluggable but in no way dumb or ordinary. All for $20.

Excellent fruit vitality from a good growing season. Black cherry/berry with a subtle plum baseline. That 15% Mataro sure pulls its weight, contributing asian spice along with suggestions of iron and earth. It’s near medium bodied with fine, ripe tannin and real flow. Oak feels minimal. Best drunk young I’d imagine. Very Good
