2010 Port Phillip Estate Pinot Noir

Another cracking release from Port Phillip Estate. Pinot Noir with real gravitas. The quality is already hard to miss but it needs time in the cellar to fulfill its potential.

Opens with a mass of fresh red cherries, some aniseed and a sprinkle of dried herbs then becomes increasingly savoury, earthy and tarry with air. The oak is prominent (16 months in French oak – 30% new) but entirely in step with the fruit, contributing extra depth and textural appeal. Exuberant acidity and plenty of fine tannin split the structural load. Does not want for length either. Excellent
